Dr. Matthew Bridges is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He is double board certified in Facial Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and specializes in diseases of the ears, nose and throat. He also has expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face as well, including Primary and Revision Rhinoplasty, Facelift, Browlift, Eyelid Rejuvenation (Blepharoplasty), and Otoplasty (ear pinning). Dr. Bridges also offers a variety of non-surgical procedures such as BOTOX®/Dysport and facial fillers.

Dr. Bridges grew up in Louisiana. He graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of Virginia, and continued studies there earning his medical degree. He then moved east to Richmond for residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. While serving four years in the United States Air Force and attaining the rank of Major, he became increasingly interested in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His surgical skill and interests led him especially toward rhinoplasty. He performed over 50 rhinoplasties in his last year of military duty alone. Dr. Bridges demonstrated his commitment to excellence by pursuing a highly competitive fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery after completing his Air Force duty. He completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Bridges, his wife, and young twins returned to the Richmond area to join Dr. Gibbons at Commonwealth Ear Nose and Throat Specialists. In his spare time, Dr. Bridges enjoys playing blues on the guitar, fishing, and riding his dirtbike.

In his free time, Dr. Matthews enjoys spending time with his wife and his twin son and daughter. You can find him playing working outdoors on the farm, fishing, playing electric guitar, riding his dirtbike.
